←Look For Other Events

Remember when you used to listen to an entire album? Classic Albums Live does. Relive the greatest albums from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s as they are recreated live on stage note for note and cut for cut.

The Cars’ The Cars is the band’s debut studio album, released on June 6, 1978. Produced by Roy Thomas Baker and recorded at AIR Studios in London, the album features several of their signature tracks, including “Just What I Needed,” “My Best Friend’s Girl,” and “Good Times Roll.” Blending new wave, power pop, and electronic rock, the record introduced the band’s sleek, technology‑driven sound and Ric Ocasek’s signature ironic lyricism.

The album became a major commercial success, peaking at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 and earning 6× Platinum certification from the RIAA. Frequently cited as one of the strongest debut albums in rock and new wave history, it remained on the charts for over two years and helped establish The Cars as one of the most innovative bands of the late 1970s.
